Bone Mineral Density (BMD) test camps

Preserving bone strength is very important, if neglected and it could lead to a silent disease called "Osteoporosis". 'Osteo' means bone. Osteoporosis literally means 'porous bones'. The symptoms and signs of osteoporosis are suffering from back pain, joint pain, neck pain, pain in the hip, arm or wrist and loss of height. The causes could be kidney diseases, postmenopausal women, low calcium diet, lack of exercises, family history, persons above 40 years of age, steroid intake, chronic smoking, alcohol intake etc.,

BMD camps provide an opportunity to test the healthiness of the bones. The earlier deduction will help to prevent osteoporosis and take adequate steps in terms of food habits, life style and supplements to manage and improve.

Haemoglobin (HB) test camps

Haemoglobin is the protein molecule in red cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs. The iron contained in the haemoglobin is responsible for the red color of blood.

Below-normal haemoglobin levels may be the result of iron deficiency, inherited haemoglobin defects, bone marrow failure, cirrhosis of the liver, excess bleeding, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, kidney disease, other chronic illnesess, cancers that affect the bone marrow etc.,

HbA1c Test Camps

Definition of HbA1c

HbA1c refers to glycated haemoglobin (A1c), which identifies average plasma glucose concentration.

What is HbA1c ?

The term HbA1c refers to glycated haemoglobin. It develops when haemoglobin, a protein within red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout your body, joins with glucose in the blood, becoming 'glycated'.
By measuring glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), clinicians are able to get an overall picture of what our average blood sugar levels have been over a period of weeks/months.
For people with diabetes this is important as the higher the HbA1c, the greater the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.
HbA1c is also referred to as haemoglobin A1c or simply A1c.

How does HBA1c return an accurate average measurement of average blood glucose?

When the body processes sugar, glucose in the bloodstream naturally attaches to haemoglobin.
The amount of glucose that combines with this protein is directly proportional to the total amount of sugar that is in your system at that time.
Because red blood cells in the human body survive for 8-12 weeks before renewal, measuring glycated haemoglobin (or HbA1c) can be used to reflect average blood glucose levels over that duration, providing a useful longer-term gauge of blood glucose control.
If your blood sugar levels have been high in recent weeks, your HbA1c will also be greater.

Body Composition Analysis (BCA) camps

Unbalanced state of body composition is used as an index of obesity, edema and protein-deficient malnutrition, and assessment to metabolic status.

Body Composition Analyzer is a device for this health examination and can be used for prevention and control to many diseases such as malnutrition, coronary heart disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, high blood pressure etc.,

Biothesiometry (Neuropathy) camps

Loss of sensation due to neuropathy is the major cause of painless injuries to the feet. Such injuries result into chronic ulcerations and further complications leading to large amputations. Hence early and accurate detection of sensation loss due to neuropathy is the best way to protect the feet from amputation. The vibratory perception threshold at various sites on plantar foot quantifies the loss of sensation. Increase in VPT means diminished sensation and increasing risk. Generation of vibration is very stable and does not vary from place to place and time to time.

Neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes mellitus, is related to the duration and severity of hyperglycaemia. Usually it affects more than half the number of patients with a duration of diabetes of 25 years or more. This makes it one of the commonest diseases of the nervous system. Studies have reported a prevalence of 7.5 percent even at the time of diagnosis of diabetes. The increase in prevalence is progressive, without any plateau.

Uric Acid (UA) test camps

Uric Acid is a chemical created when the body breaks down substances called purines. Purines are found in some foods and drinks, such as liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans and peas, beer, and wine. Most uric acid dissolves in blood and travels to the kidneys, where it passes out in urine. If your body produces too much uric acid or doesn't remove enough if it, you can get sick. High levels of uric acid in the body is called hyperuricemia. The uric acid test is used to learn whether the body might be breaking down cells too quickly or not getting rid of uric acid quickly enough. The test also is used to monitor levels of uric acid when a patient has had chemotherapy or radiation treatments.

This test checks to see how much uric acid you have in your blood. Some patients with high levels of uric acid have a disease called gout, which is an inherited disorder that affects purine breakdown. Patients with gout suffer from joint pain, most often in their toes but in other joints as well. The test also is ordered as a monitoring test when a patient has undergone chemotherapy or radiation, to learn whether uric acid levels are getting dangerously high. The test may also be ordered if a patient appears to have failing kidneys. Patients who have high uric acid levels are sometimes put on a drug regimen to help lower uric acid levels.

Audiometry Camps

Pure-tone audiometry is a behavioral test used to measure hearing sensitivity. This measure involves the peripheral and central auditory systems. Pure-tone thresholds (PTTs) indicate the softest sound audible to an individual at least 50% of the time. Hearing sensitivity is plotted on an audiogram, which is a graph displaying intensity as a function of frequency.

Conductive hearing loss has normal bone-conduction thresholds, but air-conduction thresholds are poorer than normal by at least 10 dB. Sensorineural hearing loss has bone- and air-conduction thresholds within 10 dB of each other, and thresholds are higher than 25 dB hearing level. This Audiometry screening and deduction helps to take necessary steps or treatments to recover and prevent severe hearing loss.

Pulmonary function test (Spirometry)

Pulmonary function tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help your healthcare provider diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders.

There are 2 types of disorders that cause problems with air moving in and out of the lungs:

Obstructive: This is when air has trouble flowing out of the lungs due to airway resistance. This causes a decreased flow of air.

Restrictive: This is when the lung tissue and/or chest muscles can’t expand enough. This creates problems with air flow, mostly due to lower lung volumes.

Skin Analysis Camps

Our skin analysis zone is designed to provide you with information on our in house digital skin analysis service as well as assessments you can conduct your self such as facial mapping. In addition our free on line questionnaire allows us to provide you with personal recommendations of products. nutrients and vitamins.

We utilise modern wireless technology to perform an in depth skin analysis. Our scanner measures levels of moisture, sebum, acne, wrinkles, sensitivity, pores and melanin. all playing major roles in the health of your skin. Remember that prevention is always better than a cure, so take care of your skin, but if your skin analysis does show damage to your skin, in many cases it is reversible with treatment

Ankle-brachial index (ABI) Camps

The ankle-brachial index test is a quick, noninvasive way to check for peripheral artery disease (PAD). The disease occurs when narrowed arteries reduce the blood flow to your limbs. PAD can cause leg pain when walking and increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

The ankle-brachial index test compares the blood pressure measured at your ankle with the blood pressure measured at your arm. A low ankle-brachial index number can indicate narrowing or blockage of the arteries in your legs.

You may have ankle-brachial index testing before and immediately after walking on a treadmill. An exercise ankle-brachial index test can assess the severity of the narrowed arteries during walking.
